Workplace Games Room
We were asked to transform an unloved storage room in a Leicester office into a multifunctional breakout zone that could shift seamlessly from day to night use.
Here's how we created a games room, coffee bar, dining space, media lounge, and breakout area all in one - designed, delivered, and styled by our team from concept to completion.
Client Testimonial:
"We worked with Simran Design to create a chill out room in our office and they did a fantastic job. The space has been transformed into a relaxing and stylish area that the team really enjoys.
Simran and the team were professional, creative and easy to work with throughout. Highly recommend them for any office design projects."

1. From Concept to Completion
our challenge:
Hired in August 2024 to transform this storage room (see the 'before' image below), we delivered our full concept-to-completion interior design services approach:
- Site visit, measure-up, and CAD floor plans
- 3D visualisations
- Mood boards and selecting materials
- Sourcing all furniture, accessories, lighting
- Budgeting and obtaining trade quotes
- Project scheduling and management
- Styling, finishing touches and a photoshoot

2. Material & Colour
The chosen palette of deep greens, soft greys, and brass accents created a sophisticated speakeasy atmosphere. LVT flooring with brass inlays not only elevated the design but also became a clever way to define each functional zone without adding walls.
After composing physical samples in our studio, we created this digital material board in Mattoboard, ready to annotate and present to the client.
3. The Media Lounge: Comfort Meets Class
One of the biggest challenges of the space was working around two radiators positioned on the feature wall. Rather than letting them dictate the design, we turned them into an opportunity. Using the existing pillars on either side, we built a bespoke TV wall frame, complete with slimline black metal vents to ensure airflow.
The rest of the wall was designed to be both functional and full of character. Open shelves gave room for styling and personality, while painted fluted MDF panels provided texture, catching the glow of the soft backlighting for added warmth and depth.
To soften the strong architectural lines, we introduced planters with trailing greenery, adding organic shapes and textures that also disguised the base of the windows. Walnut Egger panelling and integrated shelf lighting tied the look together, layering rich tones with a luxe finish.
Every last detail, from the lighting to the accessories and styling, was carefully curated by us.

4. Coffee Bar with a Twist
Originally, this area was intended to be a wine bar - complete with shelving, racks, and storage. But due to HR restrictions, alcohol wasn’t an option. Rather than scrapping the concept, we reimagined the design entirely and transformed it into a bespoke coffee bar and casual collaboration hub.
Key features include:
- A bespoke island with a concealed drinks fridge inside.
- Clad in Italian brass sheets and a chunky statement worktop.
- Integrated power sockets for casual meetings and laptop work.
- Bronze-tinted mirrored backsplash.
- Remote controlled hidden projector screen, discreetly tucked just in front of the shelving.
- Open shelving styled with brass gallery rails and hand-picked accessories.
This bespoke build turned what could have been a design setback into one of the project’s standout features - a multifunctional hub that blends workplace utility with hospitality finesse.

5. The Arcade Corner: Small but Mighty
No breakout zone is complete without some fun. For this corner, space was limited - so we went bespoke:
- A custom arcade coffee table
- Paired Maze chairs for casual play
- A custom darts mat and illuminated arrow sign
- Playful details like a knots-and-crosses board and Star Trek blueprints for personality
It’s a compact but unforgettable corner that captures the spirit of play and team bonding.
